Other big grantors for job counseling grants include the Lumina Foundation for Education, Fireman Charitable Foundation, Wallace Foundation, Hayden Foundation, and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The largest percentage of job counseling grants are awarded to non-profit organizations, health care agencies, colleges and universities, local government agencies, tribal institutions, and schools. The three highest single awards between 2000 and 2004 were $3,997,990 in 2001 to the Brown County School Corporation in Indiana, $2,200,000 to the Philadelphia Youth Network in 2003, and $2,003,230 to the San Francisco Community College in 2001.

 

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration provides job counseling grants and training programs that teaches job skills and provides job placement services for adults who are 18 years of age. The employment grants program is administered locally by One Stop Career Centers. The types of training offered by a local training center can vary depending on the job opportunities in the community.  Other types of grants include apprenticeship grants, dislocated workers grants, Indian and Native Americans grants, Job Corps grants, migrant and seasonal farmer workers grants, people with disabilities grants, safety and health grants, senior’s grants, veterans grants, and youth programs grants.
